Crash Courses

Are you

  • a JC1 student, who is

  • struggling with basic chemistry concepts, and

  • worried about your Promo exams?

The September Crash Courses are designed for you!

A-Level Chemistry requires a level of understanding and exam skills that are markedly different from the O-Levels, especially for H2 Chemistry. As such, it is extremely important to make time, amidst the slew of social and CCA activities that are an integral part of JC life, to lock down concepts before it gets too overwhelming. The September holidays is one such period of time when you can take advantage of the premium A-Level Chemistry tuition services that Chemistry Domus provides.

The September crash courses will help students master key topics of JC1 Chemistry, including Chemical Bonding, Energetics, Kinetics, as well as the first few important topics of Organic Chemistry.

Join our September crash course now, and get ready for your Promo exams!

Reasons to Join Our Crash Courses
DIGESTIBLE

A student's ability to concentrate and learn wanes after a couple of hours.

Hence, our crash courses are designed in digestible 4-hr formats to maximise learning impact for the student.

COST-EFFECTIVE

Full-day bootcamps are ineffective.

Our cost-effective crash courses are designed to focus on the most important skills and content, such that students absorb more with lesser hours.

BE EXAM READY

Work with specifically curated prelim and A Level questions.

Contact time with Chung will be focused on learning exam skills to tackle applicaton questions required to do well for the A Levels.

September Crash Course

This crash course plus workshop is great for students looking to lock down their foundations, as well as get personalised instruction from Chung on the presentation of working and answers.

Every topic will consist of a quick recap of core concepts, with a focus on strategies for answering key question types. Students will work through specially curated questions, with Chung pointing out mistakes and problems to each student individually.

The Organic Chemistry crash course will include concepts from Introduction to Organic Chemistry, in particular Hybridisation and Isomerism, as well as key content from Alkanes. Chung teaches Organic Chemistry from a holistic point of view, so that students are equipped to recognise key characteristics of different organic compounds. The objective is to have students understand from a fundamental point of view why different functional groups undergo certain reactions, instead of relying on pure memorisation.

The September crash courses are designed to be self-contained, i.e. they are not associated with any of the on-demand videos.

Fees
  • Each topic will be four hours (including a 15-min break).

  • Students can sign up for individual topics at $200 per topic (one 4-hr lesson).

  • $570 (5% discount) if student signs up for THREE topics.

  • $720 (10% discount) if student signs up for FOUR topics.

  • A $150 non-refundable deposit will be collected (by PayNow / PayLah / bank transfer) at the time of registration. The deposit will be applied to the course fees, and the balance of the fees will be collected by PayNow / PayLah / bank transfer before the start of the first lesson.

  • Fees are non-refundable, and there will not be a possibility of make-up classes for the crash courses. If a student cannot attend a lesson for good reason, they will be allowed to make-up each 4-hr lesson during one of the regular 2-hr lessons. This should be completed before the end of September 2021, or the fees for the missed lesson will be forfeited.

Overall Methodology at Chemistry Domus
  • Key concepts will be explained and then reinforced by doing actual exam questions.

  • Individual mistakes will be pointed out. These mistakes often include the use of wrong concepts, common pitfalls, and poor presentation of answers.

  • Students can also clarify doubts after lessons.
