Crash Courses
(1st week of Jan 2022)

Are you

  • a JC1 student going into JC2,

  • struggling to master certain concepts, and did not do as well for your promo exams as you expected?

If so, then the Year-End Crash Courses are designed for you!

The year-end crash courses are designed to help students master the key topics of JC1 Chemistry, including Chemical Bonding, Energetics, Kinetics, and Acid-Base Equilibria, and also the first few topics of Organic Chemistry.

Our philosophy at Chemistry Domus:

  • Master concepts in a holistic manner to tackle increasingly integrated A level questions;

  • Learn actively in small groups where Chung can correct individual mistakes, and students are clarify doubts easily;

  • Be exam ready by drilling lots of practice questions and past year papers.

Reasons to Join Our Crash Courses

A student's ability to concentrate and learn wanes after a couple of hours.

Hence, our crash courses are designed in bite-size 2-hr formats to maximise learning impact for the student.

Long hours of bootcamps are ineffective.

Our cost-effective crash courses are designed to meld online and in-person learning, such that students absorb more content with lesser hours.

Work with specifically curated prelim and A Level questions.

Contact time with Chung will be focused on learning exam skills to tackle applicaton questions required to do well for the A Levels.

Year-End Crash Courses

The 2021 year-end crash courses (conducted during the first week of Jan 2022) consist of the following components.

These workshops are great for students looking to lock down their foundations, as well as get personalised instruction from Chung on the presentation of working and answers.

Every topical workshop will consist of the summarisation of core concepts, with a focus on strategies and skills for answering key question types. Students will work through specially curated questions, with Chung pointing out mistakes and problems to each student individually.

The Organic Chemistry workshop will include concepts from

  • Introduction to Organic Chemistry, in particular Hybridisation and Isomerism,

  • Alkanes,

  • Alkenes, and

  • Arenes

Chung teaches Organic Chemistry from a holistic point of view, so that students are equipped to recognise key characteristics of different organic compounds. The objective is to have students understand from a fundamental point of view why different functional groups undergo certain reactions, instead of relying on pure memorisation. This foundation will be extremely important for students to continue to master the remainder of the O-Chem content from JC 2, which will then constitute around 30-40% of the final A level exams.

In addition to instruction time in the workshop, students will also have access to on-demand review videos that will cover the content of the classes, as well as supplementary content and additional practice questions. These videos will be available to the students for one month after the crash courses, or until the A levels if they continue as regular students of Chemistry Domus.

Students will have access to Chung for one month after the crash course, during which they can clear up any questions and doubts they might have on the content and practice questions that were covered as part of the crash course.

The ability to crystallise a question that addresses a particular knowledge or skill gap is a very important skill that differentiates students who finally obtain distinctions in the A levels and those who do not. This is an important life-long learning skill, and Chung highly encourages students to start practicing this skill early by asking questions through WhatsApp.

  • 10% discount if student signs up for all FOUR topics.
