March Crash Courses

A-Level Chemistry requires a level of understanding and exam skills that are markedly differently from the O-Levels, especially for H2 Chemistry. As such, it is extremely important to make time, amidst the slew of social and CCA activities that are an integral part of JC life, to lock down concepts before it gets too overwhelming.

The March holidays is one such period of time when you can take advantage of the premium A-Level Chemistry tuition services that Chemistry Domus provides.

There are two separate offerings for H2 Chemistry tuition during the March holidays:

The first course is designed to help students fully understand the key topics of JC Chemistry, which are primarily Physical Chemistry topics including Chemical Bonding, Energetics, Kinetics, and Acid-Base Equilibria.

These topics lay the foundation for why elements and compounds appear as well as behave the way they do. A good understanding of these topics is necessary for students to develop an intuitive sense of how and why certain reactions occur, and why others don't.

Besides Physical Chemistry topics, the other big topic for JC Chemistry is Organic Chemistry. The crash course for organic chemistry will be offered as a separate module, and will aim to develop skills in recognising key features in different organic molecules, and therefore predict the kinds of reactions that they will undergo.

March Crash Course

This course is for students who would like to lay their foundations right during the March holidays, so that they are ready to sit for their March Common Test. A solid foundation in these key topics is crucial for doing well in the A levels.

This should be completed before 30 April 2019, or the fees for the missed lesson will be forfeited.

Organic Chemistry March Crash Course

This topic-specific crash course will teach Organic Chemistry from a holistic point of view, so that students are equipped to recognise key characteristics of different organic compounds, and therefore become very proficient with organic transformations and corresponding reagents and conditions.

Students will attempt specially selected questions, with Chung pointing out areas of improvement to each student individually, and building their confidence in Organic Chemistry.

O-Chem March Crash Course
Fees
  • Students are required to sign up for both sessions.

  • $300 for complete course (MCC5a and MCC5b) of TWO 3-hr sessions.

  • $990 (10% discount) for complete course of MCC1 to MCC5b (total of 22 lesson hours).

  • Fees will be collected in cash or cheque (made out to "Chen Chia Chung") during the first session.

Overall Methodology
  • Key concepts will be explained and then reinforced by doing actual exam questions.

  • Individual mistakes will be pointed out. These mistakes often include the use of wrong concepts, common pitfalls, and poor presentation of answers.

  • Students can also clarify doubts after lessons.
