Year-End Crash Courses

The year-end crash courses consist of the following three sub-courses.

​1. JC1 FOUNDATIONAL TOPICS

This course will cover the following JC1 foundational topics:

2. JC1 CORE TOPICS

This course will cover the following JC1 core topics:

  • Chemical Energetics

  • Reaction Kinetics

  • Chemical Equilibria

Total number of videos = 52

Total runtime of videos = 12.9 hrs

3. JC1 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY

This course will cover the following JC1 Organic Chemistry topics:

  • Introduction to Organic Chemistry

  • Hybridisation

  • Isomerism

  • Alkanes

  • Alkenes

BENEFITS OF THE CRASH COURSES

1. Master Concepts & Exam Skills

 

All lectures consist of an explanation of core concepts, followed by practice questions with a focus on strategies and skills for answering key question types, with students working through specially curated questions.

​2. Holistic Approach to Organic Chemistry

​

Chung teaches Organic Chemistry from a holistic point of view, so that students are equipped to recognise key characteristics of different organic compounds. The objective is to have students understand from a fundamental point of view why different functional groups undergo certain reactions, instead of relying on pure memorisation. This foundation will be extremely important for students to continue to master the remainder of the O-Chem content from JC 2, which will then constitute around 30-40% of the final A level exams.

3. On-Demand Videos​​​

​​

Students can access on-demand videos at a learning pace that is comfortable for themselves. These videos will be available to the students for the following durations from the point of release of content, or until the A levels if they continue as regular students of Chemistry Domus.

  • JC1 Foundational Topics (10 weeks)

  • JC1 Core Topics (9 weeks)

  • JC1 Organic Chemistry (7 weeks)

​

4. WhatsApp Consultation

​

​​Students will have WhatsApp access to Chung for the following durations from the point of release of content depending on the crash courses they signed up for.

​​

  • JC1 Foundational Topics (10 weeks)

  • JC1 Core Topics (9 weeks)

  • JC1 Organic Chemistry (7 weeks)

​

If students sign up for two or three courses, the duration of access will sum up. For example, if students sign up for both JC1 Foundational Topics and JC1 Core Topics, they will have WhatsApp access to Chung for 10 + 9 = 19 weeks.

The ability to crystallise a question that addresses a particular knowledge or skill gap is a very important skill that differentiates students who finally obtain distinctions in the A levels and those who do not. This is an important life-long learning skill, and Chung highly encourages students to start practicing this skill early by asking questions through WhatsApp.
