WHAT JC1 STUDENTS SAY

Lucas Yang
Victoria Junior College
"During the first few months of JC1, I found the A-level Chemistry syllabus extremely challenging. The concepts felt foreign compared to what we learned in secondary school, and I struggled to keep up. However, everything changed after I joined Mr. Chung’s lessons. Chemistry turned from a frustrating and tedious subject into one I genuinely enjoyed and excelled in.
Mr. Chung is an articulate and meticulous teacher who ensures every topic is explained thoroughly. His dedication and structured approach to teaching were transformative for me. With his guidance, my grades improved significantly—from an S in midterms to an A in promos. This leap would not have been possible without his consistent efforts and encouragement.
One of the standout aspects of Mr. Chung’s teaching is his practice-heavy approach. Each lesson is carefully designed to provide students with plenty of opportunities to practice key concepts, coupled with sufficient time to clarify doubts. This allowed me to build confidence in tackling even the most challenging questions.
Additionally, Mr. Chung seamlessly integrates physical and online teaching methods, using educational videos and online practice papers to reinforce learning. This diverse approach helped solidify my understanding and made studying Chemistry more engaging and effective.
Thanks to Mr. Chung, I not only achieved excellent results but also developed a newfound appreciation for Chemistry. His passion for teaching and commitment to his students make him an outstanding educator who truly makes a difference."

"After joining Mr Chung's lessons, I saw a steady improvement of my chemistry results from a B in my J1 CA1 exam to an A in my CA2 and promo exams. I personally believe that this was due to his deep knowledge of the subject, which allowed for his clear and concise style of teaching. Paired with the tuition center's conducive learning environment, this allowed me to quickly grasp the new chemistry concepts taught, even if they felt foreign or unfamiliar when I learnt about them in school.
Mr Chung would also ensure that we were able to fully understand each topic learnt by staying back after class had ended to clarify any doubt we had about what we learnt, or by promptly responding to any queries we had through WhatsApp, hence helping me to clarify any doubts that I had, thus allowing me to have a clearer understanding of Chemistry, which definitely improved my confidence in the subject. We were also able to access the multiple video recordings of lessons that Mr Chung had, which let me conveniently revisit any topic that I was unsure of at any time. I felt that this was especially useful to refresh my memory on topics that we had learnt some time back, as I may have forgotten some details from the older topics.
Mr Chung would also teach us how we could better apply the knowledge we learnt during our classes to our actual exams by highlighting key marking points during lessons, and providing us with ample practices to do on our own, such has the online MCQ tests and the essay practices, which mimicked the conditions of an actual examination due to the practices being timed. This taught me how to think quickly and accurately under pressure, which carried over very well to my actual examinations.
Overall, I believe that Mr Chung played a crucial role in helping me improve my chemistry results, hence I would greatly recommend them to anyone in need of help in Chemistry."

"Mr Chung is a very dedicated and passionate teacher. Despite having only joined Mr Chung's classes after the mid-year assessment, his coaching and guidance allowed me to see a tremendous improvement in grades by the promotional exams, from an S to an A in such a short span. Mr Chung's patience and eagerness to help me clarify my doubts both in class and via WhatsApp have helped me gain a much deeper understanding of the content being delivered during lessons. Additionally, Mr Chung is more than willing to extend past the requirements of the A-level syllabus requirements when addressing my doubts, allowing me to understand the bigger picture of chemistry concepts better whilst helping me distinguish between good-to-know and examinable content in the process.
Personally, I found Mr Chung's teaching methods during lessons especially effective in drilling in key skills and concepts for each topic, and the effort he puts in to highlight how various cross-topic concepts were related really showed how interesting these concepts are. Prior to the promotional exam, Mr Chung's selective topical reviews also helped to provide a refresher on important topics and the key exam pointers provided really gave me an upper hand during exams, allowing me to recall and apply question-based skills efficiently. Moreover, Mr Chung's consistent release of timed practices months before the exam ensured that I could identify areas of weakness early on and have clarity on concepts taught much earlier in the year, which I might have forgotten, aiding with targeted revision afterwards. The online MCQ practices and Structured & Essay past-year papers also provided me with a greater pool of resources to broaden my exposure to exam-standard questions. Not only that, Mr Chung's timely and detailed feedback on each past-year paper submitted allowed me to identify misconceptions and answering technique errors that would otherwise prove costly during exams, and work to resolve these promptly. All of these proved extremely helpful in my revision, allowing me to achieve a great improvement in my Chemistry grades during the promotional exams. Thank you Mr Chung!

ONLINE VIDEO LECTURES & PRACTICE QUESTIONS
Chung has built an on-demand video library for the entire A Level H2 Chemistry syllabus.
Regular students of Chemistry Domus will be able to watch (and rewatch) videos for any of the lessons that they have attended, so that they can refresh a concept or skill at any time.
Students can also subscribe (for a fee) to the on-demand videos for topics that they might have missed.
WHATSAPP CONSULTATION
WhatsApp has been a tool that Chung has encouraged students to use at all times.
Students are encouraged to clear their doubts, whether it is on a concept, or whether it is a question that they are working on, over WhatsApp. There are many reasons for this:
-
Questions can be immediately cleared when it is fresh in the student's mind.
-
Formulating the question itself is a powerful process which forces the student to clarify their thoughts.
-
There is no limit to the number of questions that a student can clear over a week.
-
Time is saved as there is no need to wait after class for their turn to ask Chung a question.
WhatsApp consultation remains a mainstay of the learning process at Chemistry Domus.
FEES
$380 per month (for four weeks of lessons). Fees will be $475 if there are five weeks in that particular month.
This includes access to the on-demand videos for the corresponding lessons, and there are no other hidden fees.
Fees will be collected by PayNow / PayLah / bank transfer before the first class of each month.
